College - University - High School Alumni Messengers:
The instant message market is
witnessing a phenomenal growth and is estimated to grow from
250 million users worldwide in 2001 to around 800 million in
2005, a growth rate of 100%. By that time, the number of
messages sent will approach two trillion annually. Instant
messaging is not only a trend, but a changing face of
communication technology.
However,
the lack of interoperability drastically limits how people
communicate with one another through instant messaging
applications; only those who are on the same network are able to
use instant messaging effectively to reach each other. This
creates "islands" of users within the Internet. In addition,
there's very little chance anyone will want to use a new and
innovative instant messaging product that can't talk to others
already on the market. The danger of this island phenomenon is
an even greater problem when one recognizes that the emerging
body of wireless Instant Messenger users is projected to equal
or eclipse the number of PC-based users in upcoming years
Instant Messaging

Cross platform availability.
Reliable and Scalable.

Globally only 20% of the corporate users think of IM as a valid
communication tool for doing business. By 2008 this will
quadruple to 80%, where it turns out that the United States is
already ahead of the world - 85% of Americans consider instant
messenger to be a viable business tool today.
Why do companies decide on instant messaging? 44% encourage
electronic inter-office communication, 33% do it to decrease
phone charges, 11% think it improves employees' productivity and
another 11% just want a complement to e-mail and telephone. |
